PA House
The goal of this client’s project was to create an identity for the PA House restaurant. Deliverables included a logo, primary and secondary mark, a food and drink menu, coasters, gift-cards, stamps, and stickers. Additionally, brand language and wording were developed. As a garage converted into a restaurant and bar, there is an open concept design resulting in a modern and tasteful, yet casual and welcoming space.
With the intention of the restaurant
serving as a gathering place, the overall tone for the project is “lowkey but
premium.” I wanted to keep three points in mind for the brand identity; for it
to have an industrial feel, playing on the garage itself, making it feel
elevated and modern, yet friendly and open to anyone.
The Logo
The client came to me with specific ideas about the logo. He wanted an icon with a heart and angel wings, as this has sentimental meaning to him and the restaurant. Additionally, the typeface for “PA House” had already been selected so just a simple primary type logo was requested.
Process
Different versions of the heart and wings were initially sketched then scanned in and vectorized. Line-weights, shapes, style, and overall feel of the icon were played around with and ultimately led me to the final mark.
Finals
The final primary and secondary marks were stand-alone type and iconographic logos.
Menus
The menu design
included selecting fonts, copywriting and using language that feels like the
restaurants tone of voice, logo/pattern implementation and layout design. The final
deliverables are a food menu, cocktail, and beer and wine menu.
Version 01
The first draft of
the menu was primarily for playing with the color palette, implementing selected
fonts, and just listing out very rough ideas of menu items. Finding a specific
tone of voice and a balance of Italian and English language was also refined in
this process.
